Sci-Fest 2018 @ Baths Hall

Sci-Fest, the popular fund raising family friendly sci-fi event suitable for all ages, returns to the Baths Hall for 2018.

We’ll be travelling back in time with Scott Goodman as the third Doctor, so expect to see him with the TARDIS keeping us safe from the daleks.

The ever popular Sentinel Squad UK will be returning and young Padawans will be thrilled with the new Jedi Academy.  Star Warz for hire will be bringing some great props for photo opportunities.

Young science fans can try some real “hands on” science activities with the award winning Lab Rascals.

Krash Labs will be have lots of Minecraft and coding activities running throughout the day.

Tickets are priced at £4 single ticket or £10 for a family admitting 4 people if they’re bought in advance.

On the door prices are £6 or £12.

Do Something Different – Rebound Therapy (Scunthorpe) @ The Pods

Rebound Therapy is used to facilitate movement, promote balance, promote an increase or decrease in muscle tone, promote relaxation, promote sensory integration, improve fitness and exercise tolerance, and to improve communication skills.

Participants range from mild to severe physical disabilities and from mild to profound and
multiple learning disabilities, including dual sensory impairment and autistic spectrum.

Archery is a sport of skill, patience, and technical precision, it is one of those activities that may appear easy to an observer but is something that takes an immense amount of practice and hard work to perfect.

The most basic of all archery is the foam archery but offers a really good introduction to the sport if you have limited physical strength. Foam archery allows the participants to shoot arrows at targets and helps to generate the muscle memory and strength needed.

Do Something Different – Archery and Table Tennis @ The Pods

Archery is an Olympic sport whereby you use practice or skill to use a bow to propel arrows aiming at a target.

Table Tennis also known as ping pong, is a sport in which two or four players can hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using a small bat.

The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net.

If you have difficulty standing or walking, it needn’t mean exercise is out of the question.  Chair based exercise provides a gentle exercise routine that is done seated.

You can use these exercises if you have trouble getting up and about, or even if you just want a change of activity on days you can’t get outdoors.

Do Something Different – Swimming and Instructor Led Gym @ Riddings Pool

Swimming is an individual sport that uses arms and legs to move the body through water. The sport takes place in our swimming pool at Riddings.

Our instructor led gym sessions are suitable for anyone wanting to get active and stay active.  These sessions will provide you with an instructor led gym session that will give you the basic knowledge about using the gym equipment and a gym workout.

Whilst you can attend these sessions every week when you are feeling more confident you might want to add additional gym sessions into your week that you can do on your own.

All activities are specifically tailored for adults (16+) with a disability.
