Drop-in copper jewellery making sessions with Eleanor Rogerson (Postponed) @ North Lincolnshire Museum
Apr 12 @ 13:30 – 16:00

Eleanor Rogerson jewellery making

Come along and try some copper working techniques, including ones used in Medieval times.

Have a go at embossing. This is a technique in which small tools are used to dent the copper to create a pattern or picture on the surface. Suitable for adults and children aged 8+.

Use a jeweller’s saw to cut shapes such as leaves, hearts and birds out of the copper. The cut shapes can be used to make necklaces or key rings. Suitable for adults and children aged 16+.

Embossing sessions 10th April 10:30am-12pm and 12th April 1:30pm-4pm.

Shape cutting sessions 10th April 1pm-4pm and 12th April 1:30pm-4pm.

£5 per person for each session. There is no need to book but numbers are limited so come early to avoid disappointment. Children must be accompanied at all times.

Part of our Medieval Crafts exhibition

THIS EXHIBITION WILL BE A CELEBRATION OF THE RICH ARRAY OF SKILLS AND TRADES PRACTISED DURING THE MEDIEVAL PERIOD.

The work of Medieval craftsmen and women could be found throughout society, from spectacular high-status items to simple everyday objects such as pottery and clothing. Examples of much of this work still survive today, but the processes that created them are often overlooked.

In this exhibition we will be exploring the stories behind the finished products. ‘Medieval Crafts’ will look at the tools and techniques used to make these artefacts, at how they changed and developed through time and how they fitted into wider Medieval society.
